No more what??

So, a while back I blogged about the chords attached to my chest, stickies on my boobulars and the gadget stuffed into my pocket. Missed it? Read it here. It is called a Holter Monitor and is kind of like a 24-hour EKG. Every time you have an "episode" (which for me was a fluttering feeling in my chest) you push a button on the small black box stuffed in your pocket and write the time and what you were doing in a little book. Well, I went to get the results. My doctor unfolded a long paper and quietly studied it. Hello, sitting right here, gimme the news! WHY do they do that? The look and they "hmmmm" and then they look and they "hmmmm." Here's the scoop! I am not experiencing heart palpitations as I had thought. I have PVC. No, not like the pipe! PVCs are premature ventricular contractions = extra heart beats. HE THINKS IT COULD BE FROM CAFFEINE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Then he sent me for a 2D echocardiogram. Lemme tell you, the next person that comes at me with STICKERS FOR MY BOOBS (or warm gell, for that matter) is gonna get slapped! I laid on my side on a bed with my arm above my head in a dark room while a woman I have never met before lubed my left gazzunga and went to town. I was thinking how non-invasive this procedure would be if I was a man. And, and, if I was a guy I would never have to feel a speculum either. Charmed life!LOL! So, I wait for those results but the tech (chief - lubricator) said, "Now, if I noticed something I would have you wait for a cardiologist. I am NOT doing that. I am telling you that you can GO!" In her own "on the down low" way, she was saying, "Move along. Nothing to see here." So, apparently my Venti, iced, non-fat Carmel Macchiato order just grew by another letter...decaf! UGH! Case in point, it is 1:02 am. My dear, sweet, LOUD toddler gets up at 5:30 am - decaf is about as good to me as a flip flop with no strap...does NOTHING for me! Goodnight. Don't forget to check out it's 4 the kids! It's live! Over 1500 hits on Wednesday!

If I may, let me tell you I've been there done that with the holter monitor. Doc says it can come from caffeine, chocolate, stress, blah blah...well I dont eat chocolate, I dont drink pop or coffee..so what did that leave???? YUP...but wierd thing is that it started after I started a new exercise routine...oh well there was also alot of stress. And if anyone says the dumb pvcs dont add stress....then they are crazy...I questioned the doc and questioned...afraid I was gonna die and leave my little kids without a mommy...finally said just gotta quit worrying or that is gonna kill me...did lots of research on them and they are VERY common...just make sure you take time for yourself and if you find them happening try to relax in a quiet room or take a nap..believe me , easier said then done!! Best of luck to you and your health and the new project for cancer kids!! Cindy

Woo-hooo on all the hits. That is AMAZING.

So glad you are okay. So the order now is no more caffeine?! I am not sure I could do that if even the doctor ordered it! Ugh. I will be thinking of you!!!!! ((hugs!!))

Well that COMPLETELY SUX! (not the fact that you're okay, that's WONDERFUL!) but the whole decaf thing... that's cruel!! I understand your pain, I can't have much caffene without thinking I'm going to have a heart attack! But I did learn a little secret, apples give almost the same kick as a cup of coffee, without the heart fluttering issues! Seriously, go to the grocery store and buy a huge bag, you won't be sorry!

For those of you who think that men have it easier (and they do, they really do), when it comes to medical procedures I got only two words for you: prostate exam. From what I can understand, pretty invasive.

Hey, just getting ready to take a break (from blogging?!). Working hard today (hardly working today). On my way to Starbucks...I'll think of you when I order my...caf drink.

Glad you are ok though! That's the important part anyway, right?!

Love you, Theresa

I too have PVC's. Have had them for several years. Except I know EXACTLY what causes mine... and it IS caffeine. Case in point, I haven't had ANY since I've been pregnant this time because my caffeine intake is much less (maybe once a week). Mine is also combined with hypothyroidism (which can cause heart rythym thingies, too).

Believe it or not I haven't really had caffeine drinks since HS. Yes, my chest got all fluttery too. Yup, never got into the coffee thing, but you can't keep me away from chocolate.
Glad that it is nothing more!

I have the same thing with my heart and I had to go through the same tests so I can totally feel your pain.
But I must have had a nicer doctor than yours because he only told me to CUT BACK on the caffeine not cute it out.
I don't know what I would do without my coffee!
