It's been a creative day...

I spent my morning laughing, eating, connecting, relaxing...oh, yeah...and I made these cards! I am one of those moms who never gets a babysitter unless I have an appointment, have to help out at the "big kids'"school or have something scheduled that will not accommodate a cranky two-year old.
.
Today, I had a babysitter from 10am-3pm so I could go to an all day STAMPIN' UP party! Just me and the girls! Patsy, Janet, Linda and Mary MADE MY DAY TODAY! Thanks gals!!
.
It is such a beautiful thing to complete a sentence without having to clean up a spilled snack, have enough minutes (in a row) to page through a crafty catalog from beginning to end...slowly, TWO TIMES without changing a diaper, to leisurely eat food prepared by someone else that will also be cleaned up by someone else without sharing my lunch, my seat or my mind. .
I was in HEAVEN.
.
I then returned home rejuvenated and refreshed.
.
The bus came, my two older children bounded in the house, hugged the baby and reminded me that their "Bio Bottles" were due tomorrow.
.
We are studying Famous Pennsylvanians this month so their assignment was to turn a 2 liter bottle into a statue of the person they chose to research.
After 3 1/2 hours of hard work, a screaming two-year old, a sad excuse for dinner, three hot-glue burnt fingers and a few do-overs, we welcomed Mary Cassatt (artist) and Ken Griffey, Jr. into our home... .
A little (whole freakin' LOT) more stressful than my morning but well worth it!
.
(yes, I was an art teacher...NO, I DIDN'T DO THESE FOR THEM...they are just amazingly talented!!!)

  8. did your daughter choose Mary Cassatt on her own, or was she influenced by her artist mother :) She used my favorite painting in her 'statue.'

  9. Melek...
I think they were given a list of famous Pa-ers and they could pick!

I MAY have subliminally had something to do with it! :)

  10. Those are fabulous! What a great mom you are.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. It's funny that we have so much in common, including where we live. Coincidence?? Or something else??

  14. I can't tell you how wonderful your Stamping Up day sounded to me. I've never done the stamping thing but your cards were beautiful! An afternoon would be such a vacation. But it always seems to me that when I do get out of the house alone, they make me pay when I get home.
And your children's art projects are great!

  15. Good for you - a day to do what YOU want. I do the same thing twice a year but with scrapbooking. Just me and the girls. It IS so good for the soul! I wish more husbands got that - if we have some time, just some - we are better all the way around so it is a win-win.

Thanks for popping over to my blog - I appreciate your comments...keep em coming and I'll be back soon!

  17. The cards are cool, I need to get back to scrapbooking.

So, I get to look forward to history crafts with 2 liter bottles? I thought making ornaments with glitter glue was exciting.

  18. I haven't tried stamping, but I do love to scrapbook. My sister and I get together several times a year and have a scrapbooking weekend. There is something about being creative that is so incredibly satisfying. I really like that bio bottle project . . . maybe a possible Christmas project when my sons are out of school over the holidays (I'm sure they'll do some sports figure).

  19. P.S. My husband is an AVID Penn State Fan and is hoping to take our two older boys to a Bowl Game this year (they went last year and had a wonderful time).

  20. I LOVE SCRAPBOOKING!!

A couple friends and I have gone on weekend scrapping retreats every year for the last 3 years - our hubbies give it to us for Cmas.

We go a different place each year and don't sleep the whole time! Fri-Sun!

We keep saying that on the 10th year we will do the cruise!!

Cute cards (way to stamp!) and what creative kids. It looks like they inherited their mom's artistic genes.

  22. Thanks for visiting baseballmom...these projects are so awesome! Of course, I love anything to do with the Mariners, since they live 45 min. from here. Also, consider yourself tagged for the '8 random things about me' meme...have fun!

  23. WOW to finish a project, a sentence AND a meal all in the same morning!? That does indeed sound heavenly! And the cards look beautiful too.

  24. Oh that is just what you need, now schedule it once a month LOL! Awesome cards! Love them! That is so cool how you turned the 'Doodle' flower into a Christmas card - it so works! Your kids "bottles" are just too cool too, great job kids!

  27. These look awesome! Your kids are very talented. Personally, I am all thumbs, and hope and pray that kids take after their dad in the arts and crafts department. And brains, and organizing skills and looks, too, but I am getting sidetracked...

P.S. Thank you for viewing my blog and leaving a comment.
